cPort Credit Union to celebrate opening of new Augusta Branch, November 15

AUGUSTA, Maine (November 13, 2010) - cPort Credit Union will be celebrating the opening of their new Augusta branch on November 15, 2010. The credit union has had a presence in the Augusta area for over fifty years, and will be moving into the new branch at 399 Western Avenue from the current location at 22 Western Avenue.

Celebrations will commence on Monday, November 15, at 8:00 a.m., and include special offers available for new and current members through November 30, 2010. Opportunities to win iPods, gift cards, an iPad, tickets to Maine Red Claws and Boston Celtics games will be available during the celebration period.

Founded in 1931 in Portland, the credit union operates three branches and relocating to this newly built Augusta branch will offer a more visible and accessible location with which to serve the greater Augusta market. cPort’s other two branches are located in Portland and Scarborough.

“Building this new branch is a good example of our commitment of always seeking to better serve our members. We care deeply about our members and that is why we offer a welcoming place where can come in, talk with their loan officer, or just make a deposit, have a cup of coffee and go on with their day. We strive to make the best banking experience for every member who walks through our door," said cPort CEO and Augusta native Gene Ardito.

The process of building the new branch at 399 Western Avenue began in June of this year, shortly after cPort purchased the former Bonanza Restaurant. cPort donated the restaurant equipment and supplies to over twenty local non-profit organizations, many of which have a primary mission to help feed and produce meals for people in the Augusta region. After the equipment was donated, the building was razed and construction began immediately. Observers have been able to see the progress as it continued at a quick and steady pace.

"We are excited by the overwhelming response thus far from our current membership and new members alike, with regards to the new facility. We are confident our members will benefit from the personalized service and advice that will make their banking experience a pleasant one,” said Augusta branch manager Beth Osborne.

The public is welcome to stop by the new branch and learn more about joining cPort.

The full-service branch is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
