UPDATE: On May 1, 2014, Microsoft announced the release of a security patch for Internet Explorer. Read the details of the announcement on Microsoft's website. On April 28, 2014, Microsoft announced a security vulnerability in the Internet Explorer browser versions 6-11. Microsoft has not yet released a security patch to Internet Explorer.

Until Microsoft releases security updates to Internet Explorer, here are steps you can take to protect your online security. You could also use another browser, like Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.

Special note: If you are still using the Windows XP operating system, you may not receive any security patches to your browser, since Microsoft discontinued technical support and updates to XP on April 8.
