What is Home Check Deposit?

Home Check Deposit is an online service that allows you to make your check deposits from your home computer. Just login to Online Banking and select “Home Check Deposit” from the top menu bar.

 

Is Home Check Deposit safe?

Home Check Deposit uses the same security and encryption measures we employ with all of our online banking services. When it comes to our members' deposits, safety is our primary concern.

 

What are the hardware and software requirements for Home Check Deposit?

  • Computer requirements:

Microsoft Windows® 7;

Microsoft Windows® XP with Internet Explorer® 7+;

Microsoft Vista with Internet Explorer® 7+;

Microsoft Windows® XP or Vista, with Firefox 2+;

Mac OS X 10.6 with Safari 3+ (Safari on Mac OS v10.6+ must be run in 32-bit mode);

Mac OS X 10.6 with Mozilla Firefox 2+.

Note: The recommended version of the browsers listed above are Internet Explorer® 8, Firefox 3, and Safari 3.1.

Are there any types of checks that cannot be submitted using Home Check Deposit?

The following items cannot be submitted for deposit using Home Check Deposit:

  • Any check drawn on my cPort account or my affiliate’s cPort account;
  • Any check that is stamped with a “non-negotiable” watermark;
  • Any check that contains evidence of alteration to the information on the check.
  • Any check issued by a financial institution in a foreign country;
  • Any check that is incomplete.;
  • Any check that is “stale dated” or “post dated;”
  • Savings Bonds;
  • Third Party checks;
  • Credit Card Convenience checks;
  • Traveller’s Checks.

 

How to Use Home Check Deposit

How should I endorse the check?

Please sign the check and include the words “For deposit only”. PLEASE NOTE: If the back of the check is not properly endorsed, we reserve the right to reject the check for deposit.

 

What else will I need to do to send in my deposit?

After you endorse the back of the check(s) according to the indications above, you will need to do the following:

1. Log in to Online Banking at cportcu.org

2. Click “Home Check Deposit” on the top navigation bar

3. Select your scanner (you will only need to do this one time)

4. Enter the total deposit amount of your check(s)

5. Scan the front and back of your check(s)

6. Review and submit your deposit

 

How long should I hold on to my check(s) after I scan it using Home Check Deposit?

Once you have scanned your check(s) and your deposit has been credited to your account, you should securely store the original check(s) for 60 days before destroying it.

When will I have access to funds deposited with Home Check Deposit?

Checks submitted for deposit prior to 4:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST) Monday-Friday will be reviewed and credited to your account on the same business day. Deposits submitted either after 4:00 pm EST, on holidays, or on non-business days will be reviewed and credited to your account on the next business day. All deposits are subject to review. Regular check hold rules apply. Please refer to cPort’s Funds Availability Policy.

 

Error Troubleshooting

I inadvertently selected the wrong account for deposit within Home Check Deposit. What should I do?

You may perform a Transfer within Online Banking to move money from one account to another. Login to Online Banking, and select “Account Transfers” from the top menu bar.

 

Is there a limit to how much I can deposit with Home Check Deposit?

No, there is no limit to how much you can deposit with Home Check Deposit. Use it to deposit all of your checks, if you wish!

 

If the check for online deposit is not able to be scanned, am I able to input the information myself or should I mail it to the credit union?

If your check for online deposit is not able to be scanned, the check will need to be mailed to the credit union or deposited at the Teller Line of any branch location.

 

Who do I contact if I'm having problems with my scanner?

Consult the User Guide that came with your scanner or contact the manufacturer for assistance troubleshooting. It is important that you have the most recent version of your scanner driver installed on your computer to help ensure it is compatible with Home Check Deposit. In the meantime, you may also mail the check to the credit union or deposit it at the Teller Line of any branch location.

 

In opening Home Check Deposit, I have received a pop-up on my Internet Explorer to install an ActiveX component. What should I do?

You may simply right click and select "Install.” Active X will ensure your scanner will operate properly for using Home Check Deposit.

 

I have scanned my check for Home Check Deposit and I am receiving a "Too Dark" error. What should I do?

You may need to adjust your scanner settings for brightness, contrast, and image quality. You can delete this one and rescan the check. Image brightness and size are the most common issues with scanning checks for Home Check Deposit. We recommend setting your scanner on its "grayscale" scanning setting if you are experiencing image errors. You should only need to adjust your scanner settings once for the desired image quality.

 

I have scanned my checks for Home Check Deposit and I am receiving an "Amount Not Recognized” error. What should I do?

The "Amount Not Recognized” error occurs when multiple checks are scanned and the dollar amount of the check cannot be read. Click on the $$ and key in the dollar amount of the checks. Once the dollar amounts have been keyed in, you will be able to submit the deposit.
