cPort’s CEO, Gene Ardito, recently spoke with WCSH 6’s Katie Bavoso about resources available in our community for financial education for immigrants and refugees. View the video here.
Organizations providing financial education to Maine’s immigrants and refugees include:
- Community Financial Literacy: CFL offers financial literacy courses and coaching in Portland and Lewiston/Auburn. Courses include Basic Money Management, Saving to Build Wealth, and Microfinance.
- Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Center: GPIWC is a co-working space in Portland connecting immigrant-run businesses to resources in the community.
- Intercultural Community Center: ICC, based in Westbrook, provides educational after school and summer programming to students from all backgrounds to help socially and economically integrate immigrants in our communities.
cPort also offers Financial Education Workshops for our members – view the current schedule here, or suggest a new workshop topic that you’re interested in learning more about. We’re dedicated to helping connect our members to the best resources to meet your financial goals.
