Business Banking Intern
As the Business Banking/Lending Intern, you will work closely with the teams to support consumers and businesses in our community. This internship offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in business lending, consumer lending, relationship management, and financial analysis while learning about the operations of a credit union.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in evaluating loan applications by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and business plans.
- Conduct research on local businesses and industries to support the development of customized financial solutions.
- Shadow business banking officers during member meetings and prepare follow-up summaries.
- Help maintain and update customer records and loan documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., marketing, underwriting, and compliance) to support business banking initiatives.
- Contribute to special projects, such as analyzing member business trends or assisting in the development of new products.
- Provide administrative support, such as preparing reports, drafting correspondence, and organizing documentation.
- Assist the consumer lending department with mortgage and consumer loan related projects.
- Learn about vehicle titles, the loan system and a scanning system to archive loan files.

Location
This position will be located in Portland, ME.
Qualifications
- Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Strong interest in commercial banking, financial analysis, and customer relationship management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently on tasks.
- Minimum of 30 hours a week.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of financial statements and credit principles is a plus.
- Prior experience or coursework in banking, finance, or accounting is an advantage.
