Cyberattacks are becoming increasingly common, often resulting in personal data breaches. A recent example is the MOVEit breach, which affected approximately 1.3 million Mainers by exposing their private information. Although no financial details were leaked, such information can be misused by criminals for impersonation and unauthorized account access.

Given the frequency of these breaches and the amount of personal data stored by various organizations, it’s likely that everyone will experience a data breach at some point. While we don’t have complete control over the security measures of these organizations, here are 7 proactive steps you can take to keep your account secure on cPort’s eBanking platform.

  1. Stay Alert: Using cPort’s online banking platform, you can monitor your accounts for unauthorized use. Our team is here to guide you if you have any questions or encounter any challenges.
  2. Update Your Contact Information: Ensure the contact information linked to your cPort accounts is current. This allows us to notify you promptly if any suspicious activity arises. You can update your contact info on eBanking from your desktop or mobile device under settings/contact.
  3. Enable Alerts: Real-time notifications about your account’s activities can be set up. This can help you quickly spot and report any irregularities. Look for the Tools tab in eBanking to enable these notifications.
  4. Monitor Your Credit Report: As a cPort Credit Union Member, you have access to free credit monitoring services from SavvyMoney. Regularly reviewing your credit report will help you spot any fraudulent activity. Access this through your eBanking menu under Credit Monitoring/Credit Score from your desktop or mobile device.
  5. Enable Two-Factor Authentication: Add an additional layer of verification to your cPort accounts by enabling Two-Factor Authentication. This sends a unique code to your phone every time you log in. You can enable this feature under settings/security.
  6. Use Biometrics on Your Mobile Device: Biometrics offer an extra layer of security through features like fingerprint or face recognition. Enable this under settings/security in your cPort Mobile App.
  7. Change Your Password Regularly: This is a simple but effective security step. Update your passwords under settings/security in your eBanking browser window or cPort app.

Remember, securing your digital financial footprint is critical, and our team at cPort is committed to helping you do just that. Don’t hesitate to contact us at 1-800-464-0253 with any questions or concerns. Your financial security is our top priority.
