Read Across America is an annual event encouraging children to read more often. Its mission is to support literacy among young people by connecting them with age-appropriate and fun books. Early literacy skills are essential for future academic success, which is why it’s so important for organizations like our Portland credit union to be involved in this national initiative. Gene and Kelsey’s visit not only helped to raise awareness about the importance of literacy but also highlighted the fact that everyone can benefit from reading books—no matter what their age or background may be.

Supporting early literacy initiatives is just one way that cPort Credit Union works to create positive change in our local community. We are proud to partner with organizations like the National Education Association to promote reading across Maine. We hope our visit will inspire more people to pick up a book and explore new ideas!
