cPort Credit Union Joins Partners at Ribbon Cutting Celebration for Newman Meadows Affordable Housing Development in Waterville

Waterville, Maine — May 8, 2026 — cPort Credit Union proudly joined community partners Newman Homes and Sprague & Curtis Real Estate on Friday, May 8, to celebrate the ribbon cutting for Newman Meadows, a new affordable housing development underway in Waterville. The project marks an important investment in expanding access to quality, affordable homeownership opportunities for Maine families. 

cPort is the primary mortgage lender for homebuyers at Newman Meadows, as well as one of the commercial lenders for the development, along with The Maine Housing Authority and Genesis Community Loan Fund. “We’re proud to be part of a project like Newman Meadows that expands access to affordable homeownership and reflects the kind of community investment cPort is committed to supporting,” said Bill Whitmore, Executive Vice President of IT and Business Development at cPort Credit Union. “By helping support both the development and the homebuyers, we’re honored to play a meaningful role in bringing this neighborhood to life, and we look forward to being part of more affordable housing projects like this in the future.” 

Newman Meadows will feature 14 homes, with two home styles available for buyers to choose from. The development is designed to provide attractive, attainable housing options in the Waterville area and reflects a shared commitment to addressing the need for more affordable housing across Maine.
