What is Mobile Check Deposit?

With cPort’s app, you can deposit a check using your smartphone's camera. To get started, sign in to your cPort app.

Is Mobile Check Deposit safe?

Mobile Check Deposit uses the same security and encryption measures we employ with all of our mobile banking services. When it comes to our members' deposits, safety is our primary concern.

Can I use cPort Mobile Check Deposit on my phone?
cPort Mobile Check Deposit works on iPhone, most Android phones, and tablets. It uses your phone’s built-in camera to take images of checks. The list of supported devices is as follows:

  • iPhone (iPhone Classic, 3G, 3GS, 4G)
  • iPod Touch 4G
  • iPad 2
  • Google Play (i.e. Android) Smartphones with the Android 1.6 Operating System or greater
  • No "Small Screen" support, all but "QVGA" 240w x 320h are supported

Are there any types of checks that cannot be submitted using Mobile Check Deposit?

The following items cannot be submitted for deposit using Mobile Check Deposit:

  • Any check drawn on your cPort account or my affiliate’s cPort account;
  • Any check that is stamped with a “non-negotiable” watermark;
  • Any check that contains evidence of alteration to the information on the check.
  • Any check issued by a financial institution in a foreign country;
  • Any check that is incomplete;
  • Any check that is “stale dated” or “post dated;”
  • Savings Bonds;
  • Third Party checks;
  • Credit Card Convenience checks;
  • Traveler’s Checks.

Is there a limit to how much I can deposit with Mobile Check Deposit?

No, there is no limit to how much you can deposit with Mobile Check Deposit. Use it to deposit all of your checks, if you wish!

How to Use Mobile Check Deposit

How should I endorse the check?

Please sign the check. You must also include the words “For remote deposit capture only." PLEASE NOTE: If the back of the check is not properly endorsed, we reserve the right to reject the check for deposit.

How do I make a deposit?

After you endorse the back of the check (as explained above), follow these steps to make your deposit:

  1. Log in to your cPort app.
  2. Tap Make a Deposit in the main menu.
  3. Tap Deposit a check
  4. Select the account to which you would like to deposit
  5. Enter the amount of the check
  6. Take a photo of the front of the check
  7. Take a photo of the back of the endorsed check
  8. Hit SUBMIT

You will see a confirmation screen when your deposit is successfully submitted. You can then deposit another check or return to the accounts screen. It's that simple!

How long should I hold on to my check(s) after I deposit it using Mobile Check Deposit?

Once your deposit has been credited to your account, you should securely store the original check(s) for 60 days before destroying it.

What if I have additional questions about Mobile Check Deposit?

When will I have access to funds deposited with Mobile Check Deposit?

Checks submitted for deposit prior to 4:30 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST) Monday-Friday will be reviewed and credited to your account on the same business day. Deposits submitted either after 4:30 pm EST, on holidays, or on non-business days will be reviewed and credited to your account on the next business day. All deposits are subject to review. Regular check hold rules apply. Please refer to cPort’s Funds Availability Policy.

Error Troubleshooting

How do I fix check image errors ?

HELPFUL HINT: To take a picture of your check, simply tap the photo preview area. You can also press the camera button below the brightness bar.

  • The image is too dark: Take a new photo of the check, using the brightness tool on the right of the screen to lighten the image (drag the brightness bar up toward the white sun).
  • The image is too light: Take a new photo of the check, using the brightness tool on the right of the screen to darken the image (drag the brightness bar down toward the black sun).
  • The MICR numbers along the bottom of the check image could not be read: Take a new photo of the check, making sure that the check is flat and that all four corners of the check are visible.
  • The back image is not in scale with the front image: Take a new photo of the back of the check, so that the check fills the same portion of the preview area.

What does "Held for Review" mean?

All deposited checks are subject to review. When your check is held for review, we have successfully received it and will process your deposit once the check(s) are reviewed.
