Our Commitment to Financial Literacy

Empowering Our Community Through Education
At cPort Credit Union, we believe that financial literacy is the cornerstone of a healthy and thriving community. Our commitment to supporting educational opportunities and resources for individuals of all ages is unwavering. As April marked Financial Literacy Month, we are proud to highlight the various ways our employees volunteered to promote financial literacy.
Financial Fitness Fairs with High Schools
Throughout April, cPort Credit Union employees engaged with high school students through Financial Fitness Fairs with the Maine Credit Union League, teaching them budgeting, credit management, and saving strategies. These interactive workshops emphasized the importance of tracking income and expenses, setting financial goals, understanding credit, and saving for the future.
These fairs not only equip students with essential financial skills but also empower them to make informed decisions about their financial future. By fostering a strong foundation in financial literacy, we aim to help support the next generation in becoming financially responsible.
Junior Achievement in Middle Schools
In addition to our high school initiatives, cPort Credit Union employees volunteered with Junior Achievement to help bring financial education to two different middle schools in Maine. Junior Achievement is a renowned organization dedicated to preparing young people for economic success through experiential learning.
Our employees conducted sessions to teach middle school student’s practical financial concepts like saving and credit management through Junior Achievement programs. These interactive activities provided real-world applications to help students understand the impact of financial decisions.
Our work with Junior Achievement reflects our commitment to nurturing financial literacy from a young age. By instilling these values early on, we are helping students build a strong foundation that will serve them well throughout their lives.
Looking Ahead
As we celebrate Financial Literacy Month, cPort Credit Union remains dedicated to educational outreach and empowering our community. Our initiatives are designed to address the diverse needs of our members, and our surrounding communities.
Our initiatives to enhance financial literacy continue throughout the year, not just in April. We are dedicated to working with community members to spread financial education wherever it is required.
Our commitment to financial literacy is at the heart of our mission to serve and support our community. Through events like Financial Fitness Fairs and our collaboration with Junior Achievement, we are hoping to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people in Maine.
